The main theme of the conference will be the immigration of labour into the Nordic countries and Baltic States, and more particularly preparedness for new trends – which could see Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania becoming migration destinations, including for those returning from other countries.

The conference will provide information on how the growing immigration trend (including an increasing number of people returning to their countries of origin) will affect the labour markets, economy, general population profiles and education and social insurance systems of the Nordic and Baltic region. Attendees will be sharing their experiences in regard to the adaptation and integration of newcomers, returnees and foreign workers from an increasingly diverse ethnic and cultural background and presenting useful examples of how the issue is explained, information is provided and awareness is raised among citizens of receiving countries.

The discussions held as part of the conference will also cover ways of boosting cooperation in the collection and analysis of migration data. The presentations will be based on the latest research and analysis conducted by governmental and scientific agencies regarding the labour mobility in the Nordic countries and the Baltic States and will provide information from researchers, experts and politicians about smart migration and making the region an attractive destination for skilled workers.
