We organised together with the Saare County Library a half-day seminar about the future of libabries and Nordic houmour. Writer Jan Kaus illustrated the Nordic houmor with examples from the Finnish author Jari Tervo. We also opened two Nordic exhibitions.

A photo exhibition of Gotland's stone walls by photographer Göte Ask was open to visitors in October and November at the Narva Youth Centre which has been our cooperation partner for quite a number of years. Narva Noortekeskus on PMNi esinduse kauaaegne koostööpartner. Ask's exhibition had been shown in Tallinn, Valga, Pärnu and Tartu before.

The family day was the highlight of the Green Growth Festival Rohevik held on Vabaduse väljak / Liberty Square in Tallinn. Besides the electric vehicles on the square: electrically charged competitions and games for children, demonstration of how to charge electric cars, science theatre of electricity, options of using renewable energy at home, etc.

The second day of the Green Growth Festival Rohevik consentarted on clean energy and tranport in the form of a high-level international conference held at Riigikogu, the Parliament of Estonia. The conference was opened by Ms Kaja Kallas, Chairman of the Economic Affairs Committee, Riigikogu; Ville Niinistö, Minister of the Environment of Finland, the Presiding Country of the NCM in 2011 and Arvo Sarapuu, Deputy Mayor of Tallinn City.

The international conference was the kick-of event of the Green Growth Festival Rohevik in Tartu. Experts from Estonia and the Nordic countries discussed on the meaning of a modern eco-city and illustrated the talks with examples of existing and planned urban spaces.

The food fair held on Iceland Square, presenting food from the island nation and other Nordic countries, proved to be the big hit of Iceland Day on 21 August. The sheer number of food-lovers, admirers of Icelandic culture and curious passers-by was far in excess of what the square could hold.

We supported the department of Scandinavian studies at Tartu University with the presentation of "Kolm saagat Põhjamaade muinasajast" ('Three Norse Sagas from Ancient Times'), a new book containing three ancient Icelandic sagas translated into Estonian (Hervarar saga ok Heiðreks, Egils saga einhenda ok Ásmundar berserkjabana and Eíreks saga viðförla).

We celebrated the 93rd anniversary of the Republic of Estonia with a Nordic reception 'First 93 Years - from East to North' together with the Nordic chambers of commerce in Estonia. Welcoming words by Mr. Berth Sundström, the new director of the NCM Office in Estonia; H. E. Mr. Uffe A. Balslev, Ambassador of Denmark to Estonia; and H. E. Mr. Jan Palmstierna, Ambassador of Sweden to Estonia.

Green economy and green lifestyle were the main themes of the environmental fair in Tartu in 2010. The Nordic countries share the same priorities. The Nordic Council of Ministers' Office in Estonia introduced the Nordic eco-label - the Swan -, and advised on how to apply for it.

- How market obstacles can be removed in the Baltic Sea region as part of the Baltic Sea Strategy – including through cooperation between e-signatures and information technology – was the theme of the high-level conference held at Swissôtel Tallinn on 17 September 2010. The issue was discussed by a group of experts led by Michel Barnier, Commissioner for Internal Market and Services of the European Commission, and former EC commissioner Mario Monti.

- We welcomed everyone who participated in the EU Baltic Sea Strategy and the Internal Market conference on 17 September 2010 at our office the evening before the high-level event. The quests had the opporunity to taste food from the MEKK (modern Estonian kitchen) restaurant which has been inspired by the New Nordic Food programme among others. The New Nordic Food is about clean and fresh ingredients; healthy eating and living; easy, at the same time resourceful and skillful cooking.

- Nordic Council of Ministers' Office in Estonia launched the 'Communicating entrepreneurship in the Baltic Sea region' project, designed to promote creative business and intercultural understanding and thus strengthen cooperation within the Baltic Sea region and stimulate joint, outward-bound communication, in 2008. The project came to an end with the conference entitled 'Innovation at the regional level – the key to economic growth in the Baltic Sea region' in Narva, Estonia on 10.09.2010.
