89 applications submitted for Nordic-Baltic civil servants cooperation support

Sunday, 30 March 2014

The deadline for this year's application round of the Nordic-Baltic Mobility Programme for Public Administration was 30 March. A total of 89 applications were received, 81 from the Baltic States and eight from the Nordic countries. The annual budget of the programme is 300,000 euros.

"Since each project has to involve at least three countries, all of the NB8 member states are fairly evenly represented in projects as applicants or partners, or both," said programme coordinator Madis Kanarbik, head of the Tartu branch of the Nordic Council of Ministers' Office in Estonia.

The most active participants in the programme are public administration workers from Sweden (21.4% of all projects), Estonia (17.8%) and Finland (16.8%). You will find more detailed statistics on the programme's website under NB8-Grants.

The results of the application round will be announced in late May, after which projects that have been awarded funding will be able to be implemented.

The Nordic-Baltic Mobility Programme for Public Administration supports the study visits, work placement trips and network meetings of officials and other public sector workers, thereby contributing to cooperation between the Nordic countries and Baltic States at all public administration structures on all administrative levels. The programme is designed to promote the exchange of knowledge and experience in the shared interests of the Nordic countries and Baltic States (Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway and Sweden), thereby contributing to the development of the public sector in the region.

The support is financed by all of the Nordic countries and Baltic States.
