Björk – Study in the Nordic Countries!
All young people, as well as adults who are interested in studying, find an option that suits them specifically via the wide-ranging information website "Björk – Study in the Nordic Countries!", a joint education and career programme launched by Estonia and the Nordic countries. You can find all the necessary information about study options in Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark on the website. The Nordic Embassies in Estonia and the Nordic Council of Ministers (NCM) want to reintroduce the Nordic countries as an attractive and innovative area for studying and career-building in Estonia. When the borders fell, the Estonians considered the Nordic countries as one of the top choices for continuing studies or developing professional skills. Nowadays they tend to look towards more exotic countries. The programme soundly proclaims that Nordic countries still provide excellent and diverse education possibilities and furthermore that there are various options available to those seeking to obtain them. Carita Pettersson, the Director of the NCM Office in Estonia, describes best why it was so important to launch the Björk programme. "The so-called Norden, the Nordic countries associate with innovation, creativity, competitiveness and knowledge-based society. The Nordic countries wish to share their knowledge with neighbours and that’s why the NCM was established – to promote networking in the whole Baltic Sea Region. Many young people consider studying abroad and the Nordic countries offer great options that often remain unknown for them. At the same time lifelong learning is becoming an inevitable necessity for everyone. However, people are also unaware of the opportunities it has to offer. Relatively underutilised is the e-learning method which enables us to fit studies most favourably into our life rhythm. Through the programme "Björk – Study in the Nordic Countries!" we wish to make the information more public. Let’s get even more innovative and competitive together!" Since there are plenty of opportunities for students, the focus of the information programme is on vocational education/training, e-learning and life-long learning.
