The purpose of the grants is to guarantee the competitiveness of the Nordic countries and Baltic States in the light of globalisation and thereby make the region more attractive due to its values and innovation.

Since the grants involve both the Nordic countries and the Baltic States, the application process and all documentation is in English (and sometimes also in Scandinavian languages or Finnish).
