Globalisation is not a new phenomenon – it has existed since the time people started trading. The speed of globalisation, the resulting changes in cultures and the increase of cultural diversity in societies have all changed.

Cultures in the Baltic Sea region have become more diverse in all areas, from education and politics to language and working life. Cultures are also having an increasing impact on one another. What are the problems caused by this situation, but also, what opportunities does it offer? What are the changes? Have they been positive?

These and many other questions were raised at the international conference held in Visby on the largest Swedish island of Gotland.

The programme of the conference is available here.
