Nordic-Baltic Male Choir Festival
In order to maintain the continuity of the tradition of boys' and mens' choral singing in the Baltic Sea region, the Estonian Male Choirs Association in cooperation with the Nordisk Sangerforbund is organizing the Nordic and Baltic Mens Choir Festival from June 15-17, 2012. the first Nordic and Baltic Male Choir Festival took place in 2006, organized by the Estonian Male Choirs Association in cooperation with the Nordisk Sangerforbund in which male choirs from Estonia, Finland, Sweden, Latvia and Iceland participated. In addtion, boys' and young men's choirs from Estonia participated making a total of nearly 2,500 choral singers in the festival.
It is anticipated that 4,000 singers - men and boys - will participate in the festival 2012 in Tartu. The Festival's main concert will take place on Saturday, 16 June 2012 at 18:00 at the Tartu Festival Arena. Jüri Rent who also serves as member of the Board of Directors of the Estonian Male Choirs Association, is the Festival's Artistic Director.
