In 2017 Nordic Library Week invites children, youth, and adults to join us on an island hopping in the Nordic Literature with the theme "Islands in the Nordics". The yearly theme for Nordic Library Week is an unifying idea for the chosen books for reading aloud, and will also characterize the different activities and events. In correlation with Finland's 100-year anniversary in 2017, Nordic Library Week wish to bring forward the Finnish literature, and therefore this year's chosen books for reading aloud are all written by Finnish authors: "Ice" by Ulla-Lena Lundberg, "Treasure island" by Mauri Kunnas and "Maresi" by Maria Turtschaninoff.

This year´s illustration of the Library Week on the topic of islands in the Nordics is by Estonian artist Regina Lukk-Toompere.

The registration for libraries, schools and other organisations interested in participating in the Nordic Library Week is open at the web page www.bibliotek.org

You can also participate in the photo competition in social media by posting your great moments of Library Week with hashtag #nordbib17.
