New Nordplus exchange opportunities

Monday, 04 October 2010

Applications are now invited for Nordplus, the joint Nordic/Baltic exchange and education programme. The Nordplus Framework Programme 2009 has a total budget of DKK 60 million (approx. €8 million). A total of up to 10,000 people take part in the various Nordplus programmes every year. The focus in 2009 is on climate and the environment.

Nordplus is the Nordic Council of Ministers' biggest education programme. Every year, more than 10,000 people in the Nordic Region and the Baltic countries take part in one of the five programmes.Institutions and organisations wishing to take part in a Nordplus programme in 2009 are invited to apply for funding from the individual programmes from 12 January until 2 March.

The Nordplus Framework Programme consists of:

  • Nordplus Junior for pupils in elementary and upper-secondary schools
  • Nordplus Higher Education for higher education
  • Nordplus Adult Education for lifelong learning and continuing education
  • Nordplus Horizontal for co-operation between the education sectors and provides support for innovative projects that transcend traditional categories

Applications for the fifth programme, Nordplus Nordic Language and Culture Programme, are also invited from January 2009. However, unlike the four sub-programmes under the Nordplus Framework Programme, which are open to both Nordic and Baltic participants, the Language and Culture Programme is only open to Nordic participants.

The Nordic Council of Ministers has chosen to make the climate a priority for the Nordplus Framework Programme in 2009 - as an extension of political commitments at both Nordic and international level. There are however also a series of other academic priorities within the individual sub-programmes.Information about the priorities for each individual sub-programme and guidance for applicants is available at www.nordplusonline.org.

Both individuals and institutions are entitled to apply for the Language and Culture Programme. Institutions and organisations are entitled to apply for programmes under the Nordplus Framework Programme. The deadline for applications is 2 March 2009.
