Success storyThe Nordic Council and the Nordic Council of Ministers have published their list of success stories in the region for 2009. One which beat out fierce competition to make the final seven was the creative economy and its development through the successful steps Estonia has taken in the field.

The magazine showcasing the success stories was published for the third year in a row. Apart from the creative economy, the other six chosen for 2009 were:

  • High Five - when cultural policy defies gravity
  • Gender equality & climate change
  • Combating unemployment
  • Nordic flavour to global climate process
  • New horizons for modern Nordic partnerships
  • Safeguarding the North Atlantic environment

The article on the creative economy, titled "Unwavering optimism turns creativity into business acumen", tells the story of two young Estonian glass artists, Kristi Ringkjob and Anne-Liis Leht. It focuses on the transformation they made from graduates of the Estonian Academy of Arts still wet behind the ears to professional businesswomen whose souls remain intertwined with creativity.
