Podcast on environmental activism shaping the Estonian society since reindependence

Valdur Lahtvee räägib meie podcast seerias, kuidas

How did environmental activism become a driving force behind Estonia’s independence? And how did cooperation with the Nordic countries help transform environmental protection into one of the foundations of sustainable development?

In this episode of the continuing Nordic Sustainable Future podcast series, we speak with Valdur Lahtvee, Senior Expert at the Stockholm Environment Institute Tallinn Centre. Together, we explore the origins of Estonia’s environmental movement, the development of Nordic–Baltic cooperation over the past 35 years, and the lessons these experiences offer for today’s green transition.

This episode launches a special podcast series celebrating the 35th anniversary of the Nordic Council of Ministers’ Office in Estonia. Throughout the year, the series will bring together leading experts, policymakers and innovators to discuss sustainability, digitalisation, societal resilience and the future of Nordic–Baltic cooperation.

The moderator of the podcast is Tarmo Virki from Äripäev.
