Secretary General of the Nordic Council of Ministers Dagfinn Høybråten visited Estonia on Thursday, 24 April 2014 and met with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Estonia Taavi Rõivas and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Bank of Estonia Mart Laar. Høybråten also opened the international expert forum 'Human Trafficking: Recruitment, Identification, Victim Support'. The security situation in Europe and increasingly important energy and transport connections were discussed at the meeting with Secretary General of the Nordic Council of Ministers Dagfinn Høybråten and Prime Minister Taavi Rõivas. The cooperation projects between the Nordic Council of Ministers and Estonia were also talked about.

When discussing the security situation, Prime Minister Taavi Rõivas stressed that right now, it is crucial to show the unity of the Nordic and Baltic countries and accelerate the cooperation for establishing energy and transport connections that reduce dependence on Russia.

Prime Minister Taavi Rõivas thanked Secretary General of the Nordic Council of Ministers Dagfinn Høybråten for the cooperation so far and confirmed that Estonia is content with this cooperation and interested in continuing it.

According to Rõivas, the Nordic Council of Ministers' Office in Estonia has created an impressive network to find the best and active cooperation partners in Estonia. From his point of view, a good example is the project on migration and demographic challenges, which received widespread attention last year.
