April 25 – 27,
2002 for the second time the Nordic Literature Days and the Nordic Poetry
Festival took place in Tallinn. Authors from Finland, Sweden, Denmark,
Norway, Iceland, Faroe Islands and Russia presented their work at the
Estonian National Library, in St. Nicholas Church, in a literary tram,
in Apollo Bookhouse and in Club Spirit. Nordic authors were seconded by
famous Estonian writers and poets.
The following Nordic
authors presented their poetry: Sirkka Turkka, Hannu Kankaanpää,
Curt West, Timo Lappalainen and Tapani Kinnunen from Finland, Eva Runefelt,
Håkan Sandell and Rafik Saber from Sweden, Inger Christensen and
Jens Christian Grøndahl from Denmark, Erlend Loe, Silje Vethal
and Torgeir Rebolledo Pedersen from Norway, Sjon from Iceland, Hanus Kamban
and Oddfridur Rasmussen from Faroe Islands.
In addition to the Nordic authors Aleksei Shelvah from Saint Petersburg
and the following Estonian writers and poets performed – Doris Kareva,
Andres and Kristiina Ehin, Eeva Park, Jan Kaus, Elo Viiding, Karl Martin
Sinijärv and others.
In 2002, there was
also a possibility to enjoy the poetry by the quests of the Nordic Literature
Days and the Nordic Poetry Festival outside Tallinn. On the 26th of April
Curt West and Aleksei Shelvah performed in Rakvere (North – East
of Estonia) and Håkan Sandell in Võru (South – Estonia).
