A Poetry Festival is quite an exceptional event, especially if it takes place in spring which in itself is an inspiration for poetic feelings but the sudden abundance of light tends to leave all less important events in shade.
This year the Nordic Poetry Festival will be held the third time. And the sweet trumpet of poetry will sound more and more powerfully before or against the spring wind. Naturally no festival in the world can ever surpass the urge and throng of spring. But the poetry festival can take advantage of the spring feelings and get carried away by its wind and waves.
This year brings here more foreign guests than ever. The Nordic Poetry Festival does not concentrate only on poetry. That is indicated by several guests but also by new program of the festival which includes also prose and children’s literature events. Simultaneously the definition Nordic poetry embraces for the first time also Latvia and Lithuania.

Thus there is hope that one day the Nordic Poetry Festival will become a Nordic Literature Festival . Why not, as it all takes place in this wonderful city near the pulse of the world and at the time when the clear and sharp wit of a Nordic man breaks the ice.
