Nordic Week is creating creative solutions

Thursday, 08 October 2020

The Nordic Council of Ministers’ Office and Nordic embassies in Estonia are once again presenting the now traditional annual event, Nordic Culture Week in Ida-Viru County. This year's Nordic week titled “Creating/Creative Solutions” will take place on October 12-18 and offers a wide range of opportunities to discover the Nordic lifestyle and culture.

In today's situation, when the surprises caused by the pandemic have put us all to a test, the events planned during Nordic week take place in an innovative hybrid format. While some events take place in the traditional format, most of them are held online.

The programme is again rich and varied. We discuss literature-related topics with Finnish writer and poet Susinukke Kosola, learn to involve residents in urban planning with examples from Nordic countries, enjoy the witty performance of the Red Nose Company clown theater, and bring you several films and exhibitions. In cooperation with a local startup we are introducing an exciting Narva city game, which will take you to places related to the Nordic countries and introduce the history of Narva city.

Discussions and meetings planned within the framework of the Nordic Week can be followed both on-site and online. Everyone can visit the exhibitions at a time that suits them, keeping a safe distance from other visitors. The digital hackathon ´Hack your culture´, which is taking place for the first time in the framework of Nordic Week, brings together people in the creative field and helps to create new and innovative solutions.

The film programme, which has become a tradition over the years, will take place in a renewed format in cooperation with national broadcasting channel ETV +. All who are interested can now enjoy the movies comfortably without leaving their home - via TV or by watching ETV + webcast.

Nordic Week is organized by the Nordic Council of Ministers' Office in Estonia in cooperation with many good partners: the Nordic Embassies in Estonia, the Finnish Institute, Narva Central Library, Vaba Lava Narva Theater Center, Narva Gate OÜ, Narva Pähklimäe Gymnasium, Valman, Creative Industries hub OBJEKT, ETV+, ARN (AR Narva) and VeloNarva.
