The Estonian Sommelier AssociationThe first Baltic-Nordic Wine Academywill come together in the end of August this year. The best sommeliers from Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Finland and Norway will meet on the beautiful Estonian island of Muhu, in the Pädaste Manor Hotel. There will be all together 30 participants from 5 countries.

The goal is to raise the level of knowledge and experience of Baltic and Nordic sommeliers with the help of Estonian, Scandinavian and Austrian wine specialists. All the participants work as sommeliers or as lecturers, who teach at sommelier schools. The lecturers – Ken Engebretsen, Matti Timmermann, Pekka Mustonen and Mika Vanne –are the absolute top and best-qualified lecturers and sommeliers in the Baltic-Nordic area.

The organisers hope that after this project, the first sommelier schools will open their doors in Latvia, Lithuania and Finland. In order to do that, the best three sommeliers from Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania will be invited to take part in the Academy in order to mould them as new lecturers in their country. Estonia and Norway already have their sommelier schools, but they also need new young and eager lecturers as well.

The first Baltic-Nordic Wine Academy will be financed from the Nordic-Baltic Mobility Programme for Business and Industry.
