Nordic Look 2013: New Beginnings – Nordic and Estonian Film Industry
For the third year in a row, spring will bring the creative industries series Nordic Look to Tallinn. This spring, the series focuses on the film industry, more specifically on the production, promotion and introduction of films and drama series in Estonia and Nordic countries.
"Nordic Look 2013 as a meeting place will bring together film experts and fans, take a fresh look at the recent changes in the world of film in Nordic countries, offer exciting discoveries and discussions, (film) stories that in their turn may bring about new beginnings," says Eha Vain, Cultural Adviser at the Nordic Council of Ministers' Office in Estonia, to explain why the creative industries series focuses on the cooperation between the Nordic and Estonian film industries this year.
The organisers of Nordic Look 2013 are the Nordic Council of Ministers' Office in Estonia and FilmEstonia.eu in cooperation with the embassies of Nordic countries and other good partners. It is an event supported by the Estonian Film Industry Cluster and the European Regional Development Fund.
Nordic Look 2013 consists of two parts:
- Nordic Film Days – Kino Sõprus and Katusekino (the Rooftop Cinema) in Tallinn will show feature films and documentaries of Nordic countries from 3 to 9 June. The embassies of all five Nordic countries will help bring the films to viewers;
- Expert seminar and a study trip to Ida-Viru County "New Beginnings – New Beginnings - Production and Promotion of films and drama series in Estonia" on 7 and 8 June (for invited guests only).
The purpose of the expert seminar is to speak about the success stories in the Nordic and Estonian film industry and to give filmmakers the opportunity for closer cooperation. Experts will also speak about financing models. The preliminary programme of the expert seminar is available here.
