The 25th anniversary of the reclamation of independence of Estonia marks the right time to talk about what unites Estonia with and separates us from the Nordic countries in terms of our values. Speakers at the Centre for Ethics of the University of Tartu’s conference "Estonia AND the Nordic countries – Estonia AS a Nordic country?":

  • Bi Puranen - Secretary General of the World Values Survey Association; Associate Professor of Economic History at the University of Stockholm and the Institute for Future Studies in Sweden.
  • Meik Wiking - CEO of the Happiness Research Institute of Denmark; researcher for Denmark at the World Database of Happiness.
  • Anu Realo - Professor of Social Psychology at the University of Tartu; Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Warwick.
  • Valdur Mikita - semiotician; Professor of Liberal Arts at the University of Tartu.
  • Mart Kuldkepp - researcher; University College London.

The number of places is limited and participation requires prior registration (by 18 August).

The conference is organised by the Ministry of Education and Research, the Nordic Council of Ministers’ Office in Estonia, the Royal Norwegian Embassy, the Embassy of Sweden, the Royal Danish Embassy and the Embassy of Finland.
