Strindberg 2012Marking the year dedicated to Swedish literary classic August Strindberg, the Department of Scandinavian Studies of the University of Tartu is organising a conference from 14-16 November which will look at the author's take on history in his writing. This aspect has received little coverage in studies of Strindberg's work, despite the fact that the author returned to historical topics time and again in different genres throughout his life.

Speaking at the conference will be researchers from Sweden and Estonia who have studied Strindberg's work:

  • Egil Törnqvist
  • Moa Matthis
  • Ann-Sofie Lönngren
  • Staffan Hellberg
  • Daniel Sävborg
  • Helena Mihkelson
  • Anu Saluäär
  • Ülev Aaloe
  • Eili Neuhaus

More information on the year dedicated to Strindberg is available in Swedish here.

The preliminary programme for the conference is available in Swedish here.
