New Director at the Nordic Council of Ministers´ Office in Estonia

Berth SundströmBerth Sundström, 53, has been appointed new head of office at the Nordic Council of Ministers' Office in Tallinn. He will be on site from January 10. Berth has most recently worked as the director of Community Relations at GlaxoSmithKline OY in Finland.

Previously he has been active in politics, holding the position of group secretary in the Finnish Parliament and being a ministerial co-worker, as well as being active within municipal politics and as the party secretary of the Swedish People's Party of Finland 2002-2005. In addition, Berth has made a career within television as a reporter, planning director and programme director in YLE, the Finnish public broadcasting corporation.

"Berth's competence, with experience within the media and politics, is a relevant combination to meet the interesting tasks ahead of us, and it is with great joy that we welcome Berth into our Nordic environment," says Halld`or `Asgrimsson, Secretary-General of the Nordic Council of Ministers.

Presently, Berth is eager to seize the opportunity to develop Nordic cooperation towards further successes. From 1995 to 1999 he lived in Copenhagen, working as the communications director at the Nordic Council of Ministers Secretariat. The new director holds a master's degree in political science from the Swedish School of Social Science, University of Helsinki.

Berth has two young adult sons with his wife, Carola. The whole family is looking forward to the prospect of discovering Tallinn and Estonian culture.

On a snowy winter such as this one, Berth enjoys cross-country skiing in his free time. He spends most of his vacations in the Finnish archipelago. In addition, our new head of office is an incurable bookworm and a news junky.
