Rohevik 2012 to shine the spotlight on energy policy and smart solutions

Wednesday, 10 October 2012

The Nordic countries and Baltic States are doing everything they can to achieve greater energy efficiency and for the more broad-ranging adoption of renewable sources of energy. And in the view of the organisers of the Rohevik Green Growth Forum, ensuring that these efforts are equal across the board and drawing a line between smart and not-so-smart solutions will lead the region towards an improved energy policy.

Rohevik, whose launch last year by the Nordic Council of Ministers' Office in Estonia generated widespread interest, will be assuming the guise of a forum in 2012 when it brings together politicians, entrepreneurs and experts in the second half of October to debate how to achieve a sustainable way of life in the Baltic Sea region.

Rohevik 2012 will be taking place in both Tallinn and Tartu and will comprise two conferences and a special day of visits:

  • 18-19 October: 'Policy challenges in energy efficiency and renewable energy' – Nordic-Baltic conference in the conference hall of the Riigikogu in Tallinn
  • 25 October: 'Smart energy solutions' – International conference at the Estonian University of Life Sciences in Tartu
  • 26 October: Visits to energy sites and companies in Tartu County

The conference in Tartu will also mark the 20th anniversary of Tartu Science Park.

All of the events are free of charge and everyone is welcome – all you need to do is register on the Rohevik website. The number of places at the Tallinn conference is limited, so the organisers ask that you don't leave registering until the last minute. Please also bear in mind that access to the Riigikogu is on the basis of the list of those registered for the event upon presentation of ID.
