60 years with a borderless Nordic labour market

On 22 May 1954 the agreement on a joint Nordic labour market was signed. In July came the Nordic passport union. It was now possible to move without seeking a residence permit.

60 years on the Nordic Labour Journal talked to Nordic citizens who in each of the six decades tried their luck in a different Nordic country. These are tales of searching for a better existence and of the opportunities resulting from the Nordic countries' comprehensive cooperation.

You also get an overview of the Nordic migration between 1960 and 2010. There have been major changes. Sweden has the most emigrants, Norway takes in the most immigrants - not only from other Nordic countries, but from former eastern European countries and other parts of the world too.
