Cultural grant deadlines in 2014

Tuesday, 10 December 2013

The deadlines for next year's cultural grants – the Nordic-Baltic Mobility Programme for Culture, the Culture and Arts Programme and the Nordic Culture Fund – have been decided and can be found on our event calendar.

The biggest number of applications is received by the Nordic-Baltic Mobility Programme for Culture, whose budget also contains contributions made by all three Baltic States in addition to those of the Nordic countries. The grants received from the programme in Estonia from 2011-2012 totalled ca 250,000 euros.

"Estonians have managed to receive a lot of money, as they also participate in many projects as partners," says Eha Vain, who provides information about cultural grants in the Nordic Council of Ministers' Office in Estonia. The number of applications received from Estonia for the mobility programme's travel support and short-term cooperation network support is particularly high.

Vain adds that many applicants have found over the years that they have to visit several countries within the scope of a project. This is not possible on the present conditions – travel support can be requested to visit only one country at a time.

There is also a lot of interest in supporting sports events. "None of the cultural programmes supports sports events, and it's impossible to apply education or in-service training support for individuals," Vain says in answer to some of the most frequently asked questions.

Vain adds that more broad-based cooperation is always an advantage when grants are being applied for, as approval of an application is more likely if support is requested for cooperation with a creative association or similar rather than with a specific person from the Nordic countries.

Everyone should read the guidelines and terms and conditions before filling in their applications.
