Trash gathered by young people and children from the beaches of Klaipeda in Lithuania, along with objects that floated to the shore, became works of art with the help of professional designers. The goal of the programme, which took place on the initiative of the Nordic Council of Ministers’ Office in Lithuania, was to show the compatibility of art and nature preservation and encourage young people to care for the environment. The exhibit will be opened in the Aatrium gallery in Tallinn on Monday, 10 November.

Every object constructed from discarded materials was given a function and purpose by the children. “In the end, there were more ideas than trash,” commented Lithuanian designer Anatolijus Klemencovas.
